Listener Feedback From Last Night's Clinton Podcast

Writer's picture: The Fact HunterThe Fact Hunter

This morning I received an email from a listener, and he asked if it would be shared with our listeners:

I want to start by saying thank you for your content! I am a big fan of both of your podcasts. I have, many times, considered asking to be a guest on either of your podcasts. I just haven't taken the time to prepare myself to be a worthwhile guest. Maybe soon...

This email is in regards to your fact hunter podcast, episode 278 (Clinton). I live in Caddo Gap, Arkansas. In the Ouachita mountains. (Very beautiful country). A few miles from Mena. I just wanted to inform you that it is pronounced (Wash/ it/ taw). At least for us locals, with our southern draw. My accent is another reason I have procrastinated an audio interview with you. Not sure if your audience would appreciate it.

Also, would like to add a fun fact. Bill is considered a friend of the family on my father's side. My grandfather was Bill's music teacher at Hot Springs High School. His name was Virgil Spurlin. He taught Bill to play saxophone. Bill dedicated a portion of his autobiography to him. My grandfather was also a Navy Vet. And, was a guest of the white house multiple times during Clinton's term. From what I understand, they had a personal friendship as well. When my grandfather passed, I was around 7 years old. Bill had requested to attend his funeral, but, was denied by my grandmother.

She said she didn't want the honor of my grandfather to be distracted by his presence.

(I've always wondered if that was the true reason, or if she new more). I remember most of my grandfather with a pen in his hand. When he passed, there were upwards of 40 milk crates full of his journals. He was a VERY intelligent man. A genius in my mind. I've always wondered what his journals held. But, unfortunately when I visited my grandmother one day, she was in the backyard burning them all.

As I've grown and learned more truth, I've always wondered about the journals, and the mysterious man my grandfather was. I don't believe he would have ever stood for the evil things the Clinton's have done. Would imagine he would roll in his grave over such things. But, you rarely know the secrets of even the greatest men. Note: my grandfather is forever a hero in my mind. I would love to use my name as an opportunity to meet Bill and pick his foul brain.  But, for the love of my family, some things are best left alone.

Thanks for the email Tanner!

George

Seems your grandfather was in this biography movie about Bill Clinton.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0424766/?ref_=tt_ch Not sure how or where to watch the episode though.

No disrespect to the memory you have a of your grandfather, but do you know if he was a free mason or anything like that? Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, etc. Seems your grammy was preserving something by burning something.
